About Jericho Consulting

section break

Jericho Consulting is owned by Joyce Kennedy, ATP. Joyce has worked in the field of Adaptive Technology for 13 years, working first as a voice recognition consultant and trainer, then as the Adaptive Technology Specialist at the University of Southern Maine. Prior to that, Joyce worked in Special Education and Adult Education. She graduated from the University of Maine at Orono in 1986 with a BA in Physics, and is currently working on her Masters degree in Occupational Therapy.

Joyce's passion is to break down walls of inaccessibility that are often thoughtlessly erected in our society, through the use of technology. It is a paradox that in our quickly advancing technological society, technology sometimes solves one person's access issues, while creating new access issues for someone else.

Although there are certainly generalities in most areas, the application of technology to the problems posed by disability is one that is best thought of with a fresh view each time. Ingenuity in devising and applying mainstream technology to unusual needs will many times meet a need that an off-the-shelf solution won't.

Joyce is committed to staying current with technology, adaptive and otherwise, so that she has the widest range of ideas, information and tools available. In this way, she is confident that she will be able to find or create a solution for each situation, thereby "bringing down the walls" that would otherwise hinder someone pursuing their goals and their dreams.
