1998-2002: Adaptive Technology Specialist, University of Southern Maine, Portland, Maine

As a member of the Software Support Team, integrated adaptive technology services with general computing and networking services. Configured, installed, maintained and upgraded adaptive workstations labs and libraries around three campuses on Windows 95 and 2000 within a large Novell network. Provided training to University staff on technology issues for students with disabilities including accessible web design, supporting the disabled computer user, and overviews of specific technologies. Oriented and trained students with disabilities. Advocated for better technology access around campus. Created and maintained the University of Southern Maine (USM) Adaptive Technology web site.

1994-1997: Voice Recognition Technology Specialist, Automated Business Concepts, Bangor, Maine

Provided voice recognition technology to individuals with mobility impairments and learning disabilities, including system customization and installation and intensive one-on-one training. Conducted informational presentations for businesses, educators, and rehabilitation professional groups.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS / PRESENTATIONS

1998-2002: Starting from ground zero in terms of technology access for disabled students, collaborated with other IT professionals on campus to plan, create and maintain Adaptive Technology services at USM, including public access computers in labs and libraries, training for students and staff, and coordination with the Office of Disability Services. Additionally, set up scanning services in order to provide textbooks as etext for students with reading impairments. Due to these efforts, USM is now considered a leader in the state and nation in technology and textbook access for students with disabilities.

2001: Presented "A Philosophy For Providing Adaptive Technology Services To Post-secondary Students With Disabilities In An Integrated Setting" at the CSUN Technology And Persons With Disabilities Conference

2001: Met experiential and exam requirements for, and obtained, RESNA Assistive Technology Practitioner Credential
